Re: Rear spar cover box
If the access plate is on the forward (largest) face of the box then the aileron pushrod box will be in the way of the rivet squeezer. But I'm not super concerned about figuring how to put in nutplates - either clickbond or what you said should work. How big did you make your access holes? If you ha...

Re: Rear spar cover box
Thanks. I'm actually wondering if it would be easier to cut an access hole in place instead of trying to remove the cover. Is there a common method for installing the access plates? I looked in the build manual, didn't find anything. I was thinking maybe cut a hole, install a bunch of click-bond nut...

Rear spar cover box
Hi all, It's me again, with a fresh problem. We have a wing mating connector that we need access to. The problem is that it is behind the rear spar cover box: PXL_20241006_215749461.jpg It seems to be on there pretty good with some sort of goop (silicone?): PXL_20241006_215802162.MP.jpg PXL_20241006...

Re: Swinging the gear
Thanks everyone, we did it some time ago without an incident. This is what I ended up with for the tail stand (made from a HomeDepot jack stand, some 2x4s and plywood). It prevents the tail from moving both down and up. I think a similar jack that can be extended and retracted under load could elimi...

Swinging the gear
Hi all, I'm looking for some tips to make gear swings less scary. We've always done it at a condition inspection using our mechanic's underwing jacks, but even that feels pretty sketch. Do you all just use the regular jackpoints + tail stand, or something else to stabilize the airplane too? Best, Ko...

Re: Main gear leg brake line
Finally had some time to work on the plane. I'm pretty convinced now that this is not a brake problem and a leak in one of the hydraulic circuits made it to the axle mount along the gear leg. I cleaned everything up and I can't make it seep by pressing on the brakes. I did buy all the parts and we'l...

Re: Main gear leg brake line
Thanks, appreciate it! No worries about the delay - I haven't been able to do much myself, the work's been crazy. I think I understand how this comes together - I found a manual for an old aftermarket kit that did a similar thing. I also might solicit the help of Jeff from Jetstream Composites for t...

Re: Main gear leg brake line
Thanks everyone.
George, how did you connect your stainless steel tubing? I'm struggling to find AN819 sleeves and AN818 nuts for 3/16 OD tubing.

Re: Main gear leg brake line
Thanks! Definitely not going anywhere until this is fixed. A couple of follow up questions: Why can't I replace the entire nylaflow run with a PTFE steel-braided line (like from aeroquip + reusable stainless fittings)? What's the point of the rigid stainless steel tubing? Do you have any pictures of...
