Re: Ownership of Lancair aircraft
BTW, the fact that there isn’t strong responses to a proposal like the one I’m making is itself evidence that this forum DOES NOT HAVE critical mass. But don’t let that stop viewers of this forum from weighing in. My honest personal opinion, possibly to the chagrin of the some LOBO folks (I don’t kn...

Re: Ownership of Lancair aircraft
Rock, George, LOBO Board members: I think if the only thing that happened was that the brand came under control of a restructured LOBO with the intention of helping current and prospective owners in various ways (mainly by providing information; possibly by intermediating parts sales/ purchases), th...

Re: Ownership of Lancair aircraft
George, I think you've nailed several relevant points. The main stumbling block is the economics of either a parts shop or creating a viable new or upgraded kit. Neither appears economically attractive, and market events over many years (not just since the most recent brand transfer) pretty much pro...

Re: LOBO Training Devours the Swiss Cheese
Ahh, thank you Tom. I already have rebuilding of the door in process (also effectively two skins, but with inner one broken and a need to repair it.). I’ll stick with what’s in process, but thanks very much for the offer.

Re: LOBO Training Devours the Swiss Cheese
Dan, Great job handling a very clear emergency !!!! Is that door the same as the IVP? I bought a "Fast Build Door" when I was building mine and still have the original skins for my door. I was offered a ridiculous price for it years ago and declined it, as having the spare was worth more ...

Re: LOBO Training Devours the Swiss Cheese
Couldn’t one glue a piece of delrin or similar to cover the space above the pin and below the frame so that if the hooks miss the pin there is no way the hook could grab the door frame? Then if the hooks missed the pins, it seems either the latch wouldn’t close at all, or if it did, it would be grab...

Re: Ownership of Lancair aircraft
The Lancair brand has been on a steady decline since Lance sold it, but now these clowns are doing all they can do to bury it, and it’s honestly sickening to watch. I think it’s time that we as a community step up and stop pretending that it’s not the disaster it is. It is unbelievably sad that such...

Re: LOBO Training Devours the Swiss Cheese
I understand that the IVP has 8 latches. Bob Pastusek told me that there is no way to latch it around the door frame—the hooks either close on the pins, or they don’t close, as you are saying. However, my door, which basically copies the non-pressurized IV door, only has 2 latches at the bottom, not...

Re: LOBO Training Devours the Swiss Cheese
Here are a few photos. It's clear the hooks latched onto the door frame and ripped out part of it in flight. The latches were closed when the door was found, so it's clear what happened. The pic with the cows is kinda priceless. "Moooooooo! What's this? Moooooo". A part of the Swiss cheese...
