Re: IV-P Best Glide Speed Testing

Great post, Perhaps I missed it, but Gross Weight is a variable. What was yours?

Re: Precise Flight Speedbrakes Fail to Retract While in the Air

Ryan, IIt’s definitely both Speedbrakes. I will do more ground testing to see if I can hear a motor running, or something… I removed the panel at the root of the wing — where the fuel probe enters the wing. I didn’t see anything except wire bundles so I suspect that I have the latter version of the ...

Precise Flight Speedbrakes Fail to Retract While in the Air

Flew a number of flights last week in Wickenburg/Buckeye AZ. Most flights at 5,000 ft but one up to 17,000 ft. Speed brakes used a number of times without issue. However, on last flight at 5,000 ft the speed brakes would not retract — tried switch on yoke and also switch on panel. Pulled breaker and...

Re: Door Seal Inflation Pump Assembly

George,
Designation and source for valve? What do you use for pinhole sealant? There was a reference to Proseal in another thread but the particular compound no longer seems to be available. Thanks
Best,
Tom

Re: Door Seal Inflation Pump Assembly

Ryan, Another request would be to up the attachment/picture size limit. Maybe match the “other” board? Storage is cheap these days… Am currently away from my computer setup and find that I can’t reduce picture size directly on an iPad. Have to resort to tedious workarounds. Thanks for your considera...

Re: Door Seal Inflation Pump Assembly

Thanks George for your suggestion. I did spray with soapy water with door closed and found no bubbles. But a better test would be to jumper the door contacts and spray when door open, assuming 20 psi will not blow the seal. I suspect the check valve. A kind soul on the other list posted a schematic ...

Door Seal Inflation Pump Assembly

Any insight appreciated… In my IV-P, the door seal inflation pump assembly is entirely located within the door. (This may be a quick build door.) On the ground at 2,380 ft. MSL, it takes 9 to 10 seconds for the door seal to fully inflate. And then every 30 to 45 seconds the pump chirps less than a s...

LOBO Training & Fatalities

I think that I heard at the recent LOBO conference a statement that there has never been a LOBO-trained pilot fatality? Well, a friend has called BS on this... e says there are easily a handful with Neal Longwill being the latest? Perhaps it depends on the definition of a LOBO trained pilot? What wo...
