Re: Does anyone have diagrams or plans or photos of ESCO nose strut?

What was the fluid level? Normally the damper is always submerged. If fluid level gets low, it can pull in some air.

Hope the strut tube didn’t also get bent.

Re: ES Performance differences with Hartzell and MT props?

I am far from an aerodynamicist, but my observations are the MT blades nearly always have a substantially thicker airfoil profile. In comparison, the 5 blade composite Hartzell on Evos and Epics is actually thinner than the metal alternative. Those composite props are also the most efficient props ...

Re: LOBO Training & Fatalities

Tom, Is there enough of a sample size to break down the non-fatals by cause and see any trends? I was involved in the review of all 2-seat Lancair accidents a few years ago. You had everything from not qualified/shouldn't be flying to not being aware of required maintenance to flying with known defi...

Re: New composite prop for the Lancair 360 from Hartzell

I wonder if putting this prop on would do that trick? You would need more area. These things are sized for the application. Power and speed combinations. This prop is cut down for ground clearance. Actually, it was cut down several times and tested at each increment. I have the shortest version. Ad...

Downdraft turns into Updraft

I have data logger onboard that captures various engine compartment temps for thermal calculations. It starts recording when the master is turned on and stops when the master is turned off. For kicks, I pushed the plane into the hangar and let the recorder run for an extra hour. What you can see is ...

Re: Nose strut oil

I have never heard of 5606 being used in an Esco strut.
It is either 20 or 30 weight fork oil depending on damping needed.

Re: 320 Propeller

I have a 1994 320 with a 3-Blade composite MT prop. I need to get more weight on the nose due to aft CG that got worse after an engine overhaul (already have an 11 lbs dampener up front). I was thinking about going to the Hartzell HC-F2YL-1F/F8468D-14 prop but am not crazy about the 70" diamet...

Re: New composite prop for the Lancair 360 from Hartzell

If those blades are anything like the composite Hartzells on the Cirrus, Evo, IV, PC-12, et al, there isn’t much to worry about. They have proven to be much more robust. JC how much is a 4-blade? Do you think you get any more top end speed from a lighter prop. I know the 4th blade is also more drag...

Either Kris Bendickson (Experimental Sales) or perhaps Trevor Parker (Applications Engineer).
