Lancair Video
Hi All, I made a fun little video of me and my wife's flying adventures this summer in my IV-P, thought this community might enjoy it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-y2vtwGBxys I have to say what an unbelievable plane this is. I started flying it in May 2024 and already have been coast to coast, f...

Re: Swinging the gear
Ha I think I know what you mean by scary, the whole plane rocks when the gear is extended or retracted! My IV-P actually does not have jack points installed and so we (an A&P and myself) have had to use a hand jack under each wing. Each jack has a few wood crates and a blanket on top of the crat...

Re: IV-P Best Glide Speed Testing
What was the propeller rpm? The prop is a huge drag source, the lower the rpm, the lower the drag. In some cases the lowest rpm limited by design, in other cases it is an adjustment issue. power off glide.jpg The results I posted are with full low RPM prop which is what I would use in a real power ...

IV-P Best Glide Speed Testing
I conducted a series of flight tests in my IV-P N540LM to experimentally determine my plane's best glide speed. Thought I'd share my results because I found my best glide to be around 137 KIAS/9.5:1, which differs from my POH: "The best glide speed tested to date is 120 KIAS, 1570 FPM resulting...

Yes the control head is mounted flat on the instrument panel. See attached photo.

Aggressive Autopilot
Hi All, On several recent flights in my IV-P I've noticed my GMC 305 autopilot is a bit aggressive on the roll axis. It will turn the plane 40+ degrees of roll, overbank past the desired heading and hunt its way back. Worse, it will quickly lose 500' of altitude during these aggressive turns without...

Re: Air Conditioning Options
Thanks George. On your comment to turn off pressurization, what's your workflow to do so? I usually push in the pressurization knob in the cockpit as slowly as I can but usually end up with some ear popping.

Air Conditioning Options
I'm looking for ways to cool down my cabin, especially during ground ops and while on climbout and approach. My IV-P has no cabin fan or A/C. We currently use a fan clamped on to the instrument panel glareshield and a small portable A/C unit like this one https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Air-Conditio...
