Hi all, I've recently come into ownership of a Legacy and one of the first things I need to do is get training. However, my Legacy doesn't have brakes on the copilot's side.

I'm not sure if we'll be able to get the adjustable brake pedals from Lancair as they've been largely unresponsive. Any thoughts on how to add brake pedals to the existing ones?

Attaching some pics of the current setup of the pilot's and copilot's side.

Hamid, LOBO instructors are trained to deal with single side rudder pedal aircraft. There are several ways to get training. 1) travel to a LOBO instructor who has a Legacy (Matt Speare comes to mind) or 2) find a LOBO instructor who will give you the appropriate ground school and risk mitigation brief to do the training in your plane.

Both Bob Jeffrey (LOBO instructor, Legacy owner, & F-4 fighter pilot) and I discussed LOBO training with you previously on the phone. Please feel free to reach out to either of us if you’d like to proceed with LOBO training.

Hamid,

I would highly recommend replacing the plastic brake lines with braided stainless steel flex lines. The plastic lines will fail at some point when needed the most (greatest brake pressure applied). It’s a matter of when, not if, they fail.

Thanks Ryan, and yes we did speak and Bob and I also connected on this. I already told Bob, but I have a Lancair Legacy instructor on field (retired airline pilot, Legacy builder, also knows Bob as he used to race with him in Reno). Anyway, this makes it very convenient to get training, especially as I look at recurrency as well.

Yep, good eye noticing that. Tim Ong called it "aquarium tubing" lol, I'll get it replaced at the same time as adding the copilot's brakes/pedals.
