The yaw dampener servo on my Trutrac autopilot is having trouble. Does anybody know of someone willing to work on these? Playing tag right now with Mid-Continent, but it is not looking good.
Any help appreciated.

Rock,

Approximately one year ago I dealt with Mid-Continent in Wichita KS and they were very helpful. You might try again and ask for Bruce Gammon at the office...800-821-1212, cell... 316-648-0762, direct line... 316-634-4618

There is also another guy... Steve (service tech)... 818-786-0300 cell#...316-295-7816

Who knows, perhaps neither one of them work there any more??!!

Good luck !!

Hi George,

Only posting this to help other members avoid the couple of hours it took me to find this part.

I learned a lot about Trutrac servos in one afternoon. I did talk to Bruce at Mid Continent, he was very informative, but while he said he'd call me back, he never did. I also talked to Jason at Aerotronics, (they built my panel), and learned about the "Floating Motor" on Trutrac Servos, (message me if you are not familiar). Most of you that built your aircraft are probably already familiar with the Trutac system, so I won't bore you with the detail. After removing what I thought was the bad servo, it became apparent the real problem was a broken Shear Screw. Where to get one? Dynon's shear Screw is a direct replacement for the Trutrac item.

Go to their website and search shear screw, or look for," Dynon shear screw replacement kit: #102991-000" $9.00 + postage, for a $.55 "up-dated" brass screw but I was happy to get it.

FWIW, after the re-installation, the yaw dampener servo, (actually a Hi-Torque pitch servo), works, but certainly doesn't look or SOUND like anything I've ever dealt with before. Hoping the "up-graded" part will be the answer.
Regardless. I'm sure anybody with a Trutrac autopilot/ G900X system is living on borrowed time. As far as I am aware, there are no autopilot system compatible with the G 900X. On the bright side, (dim side actually), Brad at Airframes Inc and Jason at Aerotoronics say they have parts from systems removed in the past. I'm guessing there are others out there with legacy items sitting on their shelf looking for a good home to adopt them.
This is more of an FYI post, but who knows, might save someone some time....
