Yes, that's correct it's retractable. The interior was just re-done and I think that color just makes it pop!

Per our Lancair Builders Manual 5606 is used to service your strut, however, it is the builders discretion to use the oil of their preference. It is also important to know what type oil your strut is serviced with in order to avoid cross contamination.
